
COMPETITION PROPOSAL - MASCARENHAS FACTORY - JUIZ DE FORA/MG (2020)

Composing one of the main historical centers of the city of Juiz de Fora – MG, Espaço Mascarenhas, Praça Antônio Carlos and Rua Dr. Paulo de Frontin are located in the city's central polygon, and form together with Praça Dr. João Penido , also known as Praça da Estação, an important Cultural Hub. As this section is shaped from the freight transport railway branch, permeated by old industrial areas, with large blocks and underused spaces, a legacy of the modern city of the 20th century, a proposal for requalification for this place as well as for the entire urban center judge -forano is fundamental for the development of a new city model that is already “walking” into the 21st century. This model aims to take advantage of the symbolic and physical infrastructures of central urban centers, which aims to value the architectural and cultural heritage of this region, which aims to enhance the compactness and diversity of these spaces, driving a creative and profitable economy, placing the public space at the center and the urban experience of pedestrians.
